Or is there some scholarly reason behind the omission.

The reason is the Dublin Mint. They used to have an account on here. They’re a bunch of cowboys.

The majority of posters here have spent nearly 10 years learning Irish through the National education programme. Very little chance we can help you on account of that

The Dublin Mint office isn't a government body or statutory authority. It's just a private company that prints up souvenirs and tourist tat.

So I wouldn't bother getting into the minutiae of Irish grammar with them, I don't think they care.

The women's voice on the ad sounds very fake Irish too.

This was their official account. They didn’t last long here.

You do realise, I hope, that this is not the Irish Mint and just a private company with many bad reviews here on Boards. And it won't turn out to be free either.

"The Dublin Mint" is another madey uppy name and asfaik the same as "The London Mint" (a private company) that produce nostalgic tat whilst appealing to nationalist/ royalist sentiments depending which country they are pushing their wares. I have to laugh the way they make the stuff appear to be unique and vaguely related to official commemorative coin releases. As far as I know they are UK based so unlikely to know about Irish spelling, history etc etc

Their adverts on UK TV are cringeworthy and make me want to arrrgghhhhh .....

    It's ok - it's for the Yanks and they haven't a clue.

Plus, I thought the Big Fella's most famous quote was "Don't worry about yer man with the rifle, he can't hit anything at this distance." ;)

"Sworn to be free". It's from the fourth line of Amhrán na bhFiann. And yes, the fada is missing.

Oops my bad. Gaibh mo leithscéal. I stupidly thought that it was some sort of official body.

Anyway at least my post has given an excuse to some of ye to vent your spleen at any mention of the Irish language and go off on a variety of tangents. :)

The mint office, they get your interest first then send on a heap of coins and get angry if you don't pay before a set date. That's the way they used to work 10 years back, I had the pleasure of dealing with them.

I think the Dublin Mint's are now branching out to commemorate state Agencies.

30 Years "May the Fás be with you" January 1988

    €19.88 inc. P&P

Junk sold to the gullible, openly touted as 'collectors items' and of no interest to real collectors.

The Central Bank produces lovely collector coins that are also legal tender Euro coins. The Dublin mint produce rubbish that are worthless.
