Car logbook error

Hi guys
I am going through a bit of situation here , was wondering if anyone would be able to help..

So , I bought a car in the north with uk reg , the only reason I travelled all the way to the north for the car was that this car has 8 seats including driver which I needed . Now , there nothing wrong with the car itself , and the guy gave me the logbook with car after signing it and told me to post it or show it to the vrt people.

It was late in the evening and I was rushing to get back home so I didn’t check the V5 logbook properly and when I checked it in the morning it’s shows the car has 7 seats !! Now, the car physically have 8 seats but then I noticed that the fabric of 3 seats at the back is different than the front ones , these 3 seats at back have 3 seat belts and everything .

And the other part of the story is that the guy told me that he bought this car 2 years ago in Dublin with Irish reg and he had to change it to uk reg and he still had that Irish reg written on a piece of paper so he gave me that , so I rang the department of transport and they told me that the reg is active in there systems so I don’t have to pay the vrt , they send me a form to fill to get the logbook.
My question is how do I tell them that the car has 8 seats not 7 ?? Thanks in advance guys .

What car is it? Might be best to run a Cartell check on it to see what is shows up as the number of seats, perhaps it has 8 seats on Irish logbook and 7 was logged in error on UK V5.

Yeah , I thought of that but then you see if it had 8 seats on Irish reg then it should have 8 on the uk one . Unless they made a mistake there , which is unlikely. It’s Peugeot 807 btw .

Isn’t it more likely that it’s a 7 seat model with the rear seats swapped?

Yeah , it’s looks to me like that , just don’t know how to explain it to department of transport.

Insurance could be a problem too if you plan on using it as an 8 seater. Car is technically altered/modified.

Yeah I know unless I find a way to change the number of seats on logbook
