Eir sport Green App and casting...

    I have a samsung smartphone
    I have a samsung smart tv
    I can cast to the tv

    Youtube and everything else except content from the eir green app plays no problem while casting.

    I can even cast the eir green app home page to the tv.

    When I press any of the eir sport channels (from the eir green app home page on my phone) it will NOT load either on the phone or on the tv. I am left looking at the rotating (loading/buffering) circle on a black screen.

    Eir sport content plays no problem on my phone when NOT casting.

    Can anyone offer any advice please on what might be going on?

    Eir has eventually told me that you must have a chromecast for their app to cast to a tv. This applies whether the tv is smart or not.

    They refuse to say why this is so.

    Any ideas as to why they would set up their app in this way?
