I'm moving to Delgany, Wicklow later in the month and I'm starting to sort out with the internet connection.

I believe Sky or Eir are my options in the area from looking at switcher.ie. In my previous 2 houses I have been with virgin media meaning I have no expereince with either.

Can anyone give me any input on either, would be most concerned with good connection speed and ease of gaming than saving a couple of euro if one is better than the other.

Actually, I also believe Vodafone is available too.

My understanding is that all three (sky, Eircom and Vodafone) operate on the same infrastructure so wherever one is available, all three will be. And hence will have the same operational and technical pros and cons.

For me with the above in mind I’d be selecting the one that offered the best value for money and customer service.

I don’t live in your area but I have sky and besides a few issues on signing up I’ve found their customer service to be quite good.

Sky if you want TV, Vodafone if you don't - Thats the rule of thumb for most users.

I've had eir, Vodafone and Sky. Vodafone are the best option, if you game though stay away from Sky. There hardware is rubbish and they dont allow you to use 3rd party!

....also be aware that of the three Sky are the only ones with unlimited broadband.... VF and EIR are capped. AFAIK VP rarely if ever enforce this cap, EIR on the other hand consider it an important revenue stream and regularly charge their customers an additional €100 per month if they go over up/down combined of 1TB (which is increasingly easily to reach)
I also have had all three.....my view is
1.) Infrastructure (assuming you're using adsl / efibre) will be the same so performance should be identical / similar.
2.) VF are IMHO the most professional and reliable. Their prices vary relative to the other two
3.) SKY customer support is one of those lo-call premium numbers so unless you are with SKY for phone and don't call them on a mobile, it may cost a fortune. In addition SKY will very rarely answer a call within 20 minutes. However they are unlimited and cheap.
4.) Eir are a complete incompetent joke, and I would not trust them to accurately carry out a simple task. The probability that they will correctly organise an order, installation, provision of equipment, billing cycle and occasional support, is almost statistically 0%. – having said that, I “think” they are the only ones who include some level of mobile phone minutes in their associated phone plans. Plus you get “free” eir sports included – when I last checked they were also most expensive

I'm currently with SKY due to them being the only unlimited provider, and also they are the cheapest
