HRI and claiming expenses on rental

Hey Guys, If you have a rental and your paying tax at the higher rate how does the tax work with HRI. Lets say you have a job for new kitchen or whatever it might be for 5k. Can i claim the HRI and also expense it as a capital expense at 5k? Are you also able to back date these also?

If you have a rental and your paying tax at the higher rate how does the tax work with HRI.

Lets say you have a job for new kitchen or whatever it might be for 5k. Can i claim the HRI and also expense it as a capital expense at 5k?

Are you also able to back date these also?
