Just had a molar removed the big one infront of the wisdom tooth on the bottom right, dentist said I could live without it, just wondering would I be best off get an implant in there as it's the tooth I nearly use the most.. have I much of a window to decide is it worth doing, not making a decision on looks or cost just worried about life without it and the pressure some other tooth will have to take in it's place.

I wouldn't bother, plenty of other teeth back there. Different if its a front tooth.

I've only 1 tooth left back there.

Hi if you have the money why not just go for it as I would imagine it would be difficult to eat on that side if you don't have teeth there

I have two molars missing, one from the lower jaw for about twenty years, the other from the upper jaw since last year. Never had any trouble chewing ... sometimes the gap even comes in handy! :pac:

the consequence of not replacing a back tooth is.]
    1. Bone loss in the area.
    2. Drifting and tipping of the adjacent teeth beside the gap.
    3. Overeruption of the opposing tooth.
    4. Bite issues due to 2 and 3 above.
    5. Movement of front teeth into the space at the back.
    6. Lose the function of the tooth and its opposing partner, force move to other teeth increasing wear.

If you can afford it get the tooth replaced, missing teeth are not cool, and no you cant just use the others. Its a slippery mindset and leads to you getting older and loosing function and aesthetics.

Wisdom teeth generally do not need replacing.

Thanks that's a lot of what I was thinking, is it better to get it done as soon as possible. As the 2 molars are gone is it necessary to replace both. Ones probably gone 20yrs or more. The other this morning.

As far as pricing should I just ring around and see who's got the best deal or can you suggest anywhere. Not sure if any of it is covered under insurance must check.

OP the best deal is often not the best value. There is huge variation in quality, treatment experiance and service. Price and value are not the same thing. See my sig.

Can't see anything in your sig?

Called one place don't know how reputable they are..

Got a rough idea, 750 for the screw to be left in place for 6mts, depending on the crown 400 to 600, said I can claim back 20% on each. Then other costs could be added on if the bone needs to be made wider etc. Roughly they said somewhere all in 1500 to 2k for the 1 tooth.
Not much I can do now they said let it heal for about 2 months before coming in.
