BPS marking out maps

I just got my log ins to submit sheep census (first time submitting one), while online I was having a look at the BPS section where you can submit plots of land on the map. My land is already marked as an active plot (not by me). Is this something that happens automatically as a potential area to farm? Or is it always manually submitted by farmer/agent?

All bps applications have to be done online now. Easy enough once you are happy with the maps.

Did you get entitlements transferred into your own name?

No I know nothing about entitlements, or BPS, or anythjng really! I only got a flock number last year and am just trying to figure out if/what I can apply for. Marking out the maps online seems straightforward enough but i'm just puzzled that it seems to be done already

It was either done by the dept programme or by whoever submitted an application for that ground previously

Given it is your first time, i would go to teagasc or BPS expert.. they will know the path of least resistance..

What do you mean by the department programme? Sorry this is all new to me and very confusing. Its not a recently purchased plot of land. I'm here more than a decade I just never applied for anything before

    Thank you

Its only 8ha of land so i'm worried that if I have to pay someone to help it'll end up cancelling out any possible payment. Could you hazard a guess how much someone would charge?

    Thanks

Teagasc costs 150e a year for there services for small farms such as your own. It could get you a thousand or two in payments so it's definitely worth looking into. I took over a farm in 15, like yourself I'd no clue about how to go about claiming for land and what was or was not elegable for claiming on. They were very helpful and easy to deal with. Imo it was the best investment I made the last 2years

when they take the pics they put them through a computer programme that will identify boundries, lanes, scrub and the like
