Hi , I’m new to this but I know there’s some NCT testers on here .. I’m looking for a bit of info.. I’m going to look at a 98 car this week that has had an engine conversion.. the car currently has no NCT but the boy that has the car reckons that he has a letter from the manufacturer to say the car does not have to pass high idle emissions .. did anyone ever hear of this before?

As above it’ll still have to pass emissions. If the engine is in good order it shouldn’t have any issues anyway

    Rb25 or 1jz I’m guessing?

A healthy RB should actually be easier to get through than the original SR motor. Just check the cat is fitted to the exhaust when your buying it. A white 14 is it?

A 98 JDM car with a swapped engine. Sounds like a perfect storm of what Irish insurance companies run away from, I bet they OP is a young male for the full sweep.

OP have you got an insurance quote? As the NCT is going to be the least of the problems getting it legally onto the road.
