Wondering has anyone claimed illness benefit following pna following the end of maternity leave?
I'm due to go back to work in Feb but really feeling very overwhelmed
I had my baby in August and so far haven't felt able to leave the same building. I get panic attacks driving and after driving as the distance between the front and back seat freaks me out I cannot imagine doing 12th our shifts in less than a month. I have been seeing a counsellor and plan to go to the GP during he week but I'm wondering if I would even qualify

I’m so sorry your having such a bad experience.
As long as you have 39 paid and or credits (PRSI) (13 must be paid) in 2016 and your GP signs the MC1 form then you will get Illness Benefit.
It is a short term payment and the Dept don’t question the GPs diagnosis/prognosis as they do for long term payments.
I’m afraid the max is only €193.
I hope things get better for you.

Hey, just wondering how you got on with your GP? I could have written your post myself. I’m due back in work soon and i am really struggling. At first I thought this kind of anxiety was normal as a new mother but it’s completey taken over my life to the point that I’m am petrified of everything.

Were you able to claim Illness benefit?
