    Hi guys
Recently got new internal doors in house. Problem is the doors feel really hollow and vibrate easily. When i close door they rattle easily. They are still factory finished as havent had time to paint them yet.
They are an oundle white oak door similair to this http://www.doorsireland.ie/door-collection/interior-doors/white-oak.html .Im doubting myself now as to whether i bought solid wood doors or are they hollow. Will the feel of the door change after a couple of coats of paint.

You should know the feel and weight of a solid oak door.

I’d think if your wondering then they are not solid doors.

The rattle might just be play in the latch mechanism and it might be possible to sort that.

The description in the link refers to 17mm solid edging and veneer so it would be an engineered product and not solid id image.

thank you for replies, the panels in doors seem to rattle , not sure if its a fault although unlikely as a few of them rattle. I know they are not a solid oak door but i believe a solid cored door instead just mine feel very flimsy and hollow
I can try contact co. i purchased them from again.

Have the same doors and from the information I gathered from the door supplier (friend of family). There is a good version of these which has a solid core and a cheap 'Chinese import' version which has cardboard as the core.

Not sure how you could verify which version you have other than taking one down and seeing how heavy it is. The good version being very heavy and the cheap version being as light as a feather.

Rang the company i bought them off today and their reply was yes they are purposely made like that. They are slightly loose to allow paint get in the angles and joints without paint building up. After they are painted they become solid apparently.

I had doors fitted last week and although the doors themselves are fine, there is a rattle from the door on the frame when it's closed. Yer man fitting said they deliberately leave this gap so that when you paint them they don't start getting jammed.

    Who paints oak doors?

I've heard some stuff over the years, but this wins, hands down.
