Knowing if partner is legally married

OK this might be a long shot, but here goes!.....

On behalf of an acquaintance who was thrown out of her long term partners house, resulting in her being homeless and therefore unsuitable for custody of their children, She has been informed from a third party that he has been married for the past few years (while they were still living together) and that he has the wife living in a separate property that he bought, enabling him to live between the two properties and keeping the wife a secret from his children.

Can anyone please point me in the direction of finding answers to the following questions as it may help her case against his lies in relation to custody.
1- is there a way of finding if someone is legally married in Ireland
2- a way of finding out if someone owns additional property

She has no idea where the new property is located, or wife's name , date or place of marriage.

If the marriage took place in Ireland in recent years, the fact of the intended marriage would have been advertised. Easiest thing to do is to follow the guy and see where he goes. If there is a wife in another house he is going to go there frequently.

How long was she cohabiting? She needs a solicitor! Get in touch with FLAC.

Surely she has rights to the house as it is the family home. He can't just throw her out even if he owns it. If she can access his LPT record it might list the second house. She'd need the LPT letter which gives property ID and PIN so that might be difficult to get her hands on.

The GRO hold records of marriages but without an approximate date of marriage it would be difficult to look through the records just looking for his name.

A noticeboard in the reception of the registry office usually; not really an easy place to find former info from.

Thanks for the replies. Sadly this man is a very very sneaky little weasel. She wouldn't have had any access to his LPT, even when together she wouldn't have had access to any paper work, he took control over everything.

She was availing of FLAC while dealing with the kids access, she brought this new information to the attention of who ever she was dealing with regarding legal aid, (her solicitor ?) apparently they told her there's nothing they could do, she'd have to go and find this information by herself.
I'm guessing what they mean is her legal aid is granted for covering access, so she needs to go and pay a solicitor to find out the details on her ex partner. Even though it could change their current custody ruling !

Unless you have very specific information it will be impossible to find out. It could even be an overseas marriage.

I believe it took place here, as wife is a non national, he brought her over here :-/

Unless you know the names date and place you’re not going to find out.
You can hire a private detective but it’s costly.
