Hi, looking for some advice. The abs light and check engine light is on the dash of my car. My insurance is up in 13 days so I need to try get my driving test passed before then. Hence, I need to have those lights fixed. Besides servicing the car is there any alternative to sorting this out? The car is a 2005 Hyundai Get. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am under a lot of pressure.

You would need to connect diagnostic tool to ODB port of the car to read the fault and see what the problem is to then seek a proper fix, you can also reset the faults and if they are a one off (very unlikely) they may not appear again or might not appear for a few days, a week etc.

Another more basic option is to disconnect your cars battery for about a minute and reconnect, this should clear the fault lights, again however when/if fault retriggers it they will appear again. Risks disconnecting the battery would be loss of saved radio stations on the car and possible auto functions of electric windows needing resetting.

At the end of the day an ABS fault could be any level of danger, it's an important safety feature of your car and should be checked out rather than simply disabled.

Thanks a lot for that, I did that and found out the cam shaft sensor needed to be replaced, so I ordered that part, hopefully that does the trick. Cheers.
