First of all I will qualify this by saying I am so organised that I like to gather info on my trip three months in advance :D

So yeah, off to Liverpool in April for a stag weekend. First thing first. How easy is it to get from the airport to the city centre? I am assuming there's direct rail link from the arrivals directly to one of the inner stations? We all booked accommodation individually so can't speak for everyone else, but I am staying in a hostel near Lime St station (according to the website anyway), and was just wondering of the logistics getting to and from the airport etc.

Furthermore, is there any recommended decent sight-seeing for a lad to do on Saturday morning? Preferably within walking distance of the centre. Unlike some of my companions, I plan on getting some culture in while I'm over there :D

    Thanks in advance etc.

there is a city bus but if there are a few of you take a taxi. About 12STG to Lime Street.

I'd take a ferry over to Birkenhead and enjoy the views of the skyline - great way to clear the head.

Depending on what PL games are on that weekend, a tour of either Anfield or Goodison Park is an interesting way to kill a few hours.

Both Cathedrals are spectacular in their own way and both only about 10 minutes walk from Lime Street.

Any of the Beatles stuff worth doing? Not a fan per se, but as they are so iconic it would be rude not to something, provided they aren't extortionately priced of course :D

Beatles museum, Albert Dock. Take an evening walk down Mathew Street, check out the Cavern Club.

Yeah no direct rail link, closest station to airport is south parkway a couple of miles from the airport. A few buses go into town outside the arrival terminal but be careful to ask the inspectors at the bus stand which one is the more direct as the slower buses stop everywhere and take up to an hour.

As far as sightseeing not mention hop on the mersey ferry, it's cheap and you get a good view of the city.

It’s by far the best of the northern England cities. Plenty to see, great restaurants, and a real buzz around the place.

Walk down to the pier head and see the three graces (liver building being the primary one)

Also exchange flags is somewhere in always like to pass through during lunch. Then get breakfast in moose coffee just by there on dale st.

Make sure you get the taxi drivers to put everything on the meter. Lots of chancers around Lime Street.

If you are staying in Lime Street, get the bus into town from the airport, last time I was there it was around £2 if I recall correctly.  The conductor lads outside the airport will tell you which one goes into town (the terminus is at Liverpool One, which is city centre, Lime Street is walking distance), will save you a few quid.  Or a taxi share will work out cheap enough too.
In terms of sightseeing, after numerous trips for football matches, stag parties, general p*ss ups I visited with my missus and did some touristy stuff.  Can recommend the Beatles Museum at Albert Dock, also the open top bus tour gives you a good feel of the city.  For stag stuff, Matthew Street will be rammed with stags/hens etc is good craic, but I would prefer Concert Square for going out.  Albert Dock is alright too but a bit more pricey for drink.
