    Thoughts on the car?

If not rotten, should be a fine car. There are some issues with this engine - cracking exhaust manifold, stretching chain etc (fixed at some stage, but not sure when really) - but nothing as expensive as with the German brand.

Were those issues not with the older iCDTi engine in the previous model Accord?

    Is it a UK import?
Main dials on the speedometer are in MPH..

Any new shape 2008 Accords would be UK imports as they sold the older model here into 2009.

Check for EGR pipe crack, rotten sunroof, clutch bite. The IDTEC didn't have the same problems as the ICTDI with regards to Timing chains and ex manifolds.

    Thanks for the replies folks.

I'd a funny day of it. My brother in law, who works for a main dealer has told me that it's overpriced and not worth the money. (I won't mention who he works for here).

My own mechanic who's an indie, thinks it's a good buy. He has a 09 one himself, a GT spec and has told me that he'll give me his for 6850, plus the Alfa and a comprehensive 6 month warranty, but in truth, he's been good to me in the past, so that could be closer to 12 months, or at least he'd be reasonable!

His is 09 but has 20k more miles.

And then I came across this this evening:

    /cars-for-sale/skoda-octavia-2010-vrs/171939

Which I'd have home for between 8750 and 9250, all costs included.

    Hard this craic!!

The VRS won't be as comfortable as the Accord, the suspension is a lot harder.

Can't see how that 08 is that overpriced.

Just be careful about "GT Spec"

You generally have 2 specs, ES which is standard, and EX which is like the one you linked which has some nice extras.

Both of these came with the option of a GT pack, which was basically a lip kit and possibly bigger alloys. Anyway, an EX would still be better than an ES GT.
