If you have concrete floors between downstairs and upstairs do you have to put in a suspended ceiling to wire the house? If so will this effect the visual look of ceiling and will it eat much into you ceiling height?

You dont have to but the timber baton's can be a pain in h*le as they have to be levelled with wedges and shims because of the arch on the precast floor and it tight to get wiring through.
I put a suspended ceiling (MF ceiling) in mine, great job for wiring, even put a 4" waste from an up stairs en-suite out to the back of the house instead of the gable. Just get the block layer to lay an extra course and this allow you drop your ceiling and will still give you a standard ceiling height

Thanks for reply. The house is already built, luckily I put in high ceilings so this will prob bring them down to standard!

Does it look like a 'normal' ceiling?

It is a normal ceiling!! It's a metal frame system which can be installed at any given height (minimum drop from concrete slab or existing ceiling is approx 100mm).
Metal runners are installed at 16 inch centres to which plasterboard is attached.
Convenient for achieving a void in which to hide services etc.

Has the added benefit of improving acoustics between floors. You dont see the framework as your plasterboards are all taped and jointed. As Czhornet said trying to level off battons to the underside of the concrete is a pain and you can incorporate services.
