I thought everyone here was daft talking about dunlop purfort bursting at heel .... then what do you know... l find myself with wet feet .. grr! And less than a year old.

Have a pair of hunters and finding them very good.

Anyone farming fulltime and wearing cheap wellies all day is an eejit.

Went through 3 pairs of Dunlops in a year. Rubbish. Have Bekina Steplites now. Far better product. Must be allowed to dry out at night though, i.e. don't leave waterproof trousers around them overnight.

    +1,

It's our shirt n tie, I bought Muckross ones in pic attached and they are super, you have serous sole under your foot, no more 2 pairs of socks .. You can feel the warmth once you get into them

I got them month ago for E103 but they worth every penny, could throw out all my welly socks

+1 have them myself. Going on their 3rd spring this year. Brilliant wellies. Used to hate wearing wellies. Very comfortable and warm. Only wear them when I have to, but they are lovely.

Last pair of Purofort have lasted over a year.

I think some of the heel cracking problem happens when taking them off, i.e. pulljng a foot part way out of one and then standing on that heel and using that wellie to kick off the other one. For me, invariably, it was the left wellie that cracked

Same with me ha. Must look at the hunters or the Muckross that sunybill suggested.

Another pet hate for me of the Dunlops is the grips on them. They pick up stones and when I go into the cows shed they drop the stones on the slats. I think they are the reason for a few lame cows here.

You done well describing that! Think you are right, thought Dunlop are definitely worse now than they were

I was just bitching about my dunlops the other day. I got a wellie full of water over Christmas and saw the crack at the heel. The feckers were €75 and didn't last 6 months.

Had bekina before and the last really well.

I've owned a good pairs of different brands. Can't stand Dunlop wellies. I find Aigle the best, expensive but worth the money if farming every day. Just bought a new pair last week. Still wearing the old pair over 2 years old now.

Normally get a year out of he Dunlop, worn everyday all day nearly. Spent a bit extra ones 2 years ago can't remember the brand again ended up slicing thru em, think it was pulling a cracked gate out of a ditch or something, same with the expensive oil skin coat invariably gets caught somewhere

i know a few people mentioned the hunters, the sister bought me a pair for my birthday but i sent them back, they fitted my foot fine but were incredibly tight above the ankle, hada job to take them on and off

They are very expensive, was looking at them in the sales. We wear dunlop purofort here, only downside is stones getting stuck in the grips on the bottom

Dunlop Purofort with steel toe cap here. Have them a year now. I find them warm and comfortable, much better than the cheap ones I used to get in co - op before. Life's too short to wear bad wellies. :D

considering most of us are wearing them all day most days , I think the few extra quid is well worth it

I got the Bekina step lite here also and they always felt cold / wet inside , purofort were fine but they as other posters say did burst at seam of left heel from taking them on/off.

I've guy cotton ones here too , marine standard and they great and warm but no grip on land they design ed for plastic or steel decks of boats and grips too fine for in a field etc

Have the steel toe version of the muckboot for coming up on a year I'd say now. Fantastic with the thick sole. Feet wouldn't be cold at all even on a very frosty day standing around alot at a slow TB test( and that is a serious test of a wellies warmth :P)

I had the same problem with the Hunters. My wife bought them for me. They are left in the shed. They are so tight on the calf muscle they'd give you cramps. They are more a style boot that a work boot. I was in New York a few years ago and all these girls were wearing hunters on a warm New York day and
a good few are wearing them that way in Ireland now.

I have chicken legs, take it from the father. Hunters fit like a glove!
