Buzzing from Stanley stove

I have a Stanley stove and had it lit quite early yesterday, so it was on for about 7 hours when I noticed a buzzing noise coming from it last night. I was burning coal with some turf. It was hot and the water from the back boiler was very hot, I ran the taps for a while but it made no difference. I let the fire die down, but am worried about lighting it today, any clues as to what the noise may have been? It wasn't knocking, it was as though there was an insect trapped against glass for an hour.

Maybe it's completely normal and happens all the time but I didn't have the TV or radio on last night so noticed it for the first time?
