    Hi my daughter sitting her test on Tuesday my tax disc expired December 17 do I need to renew first?

    For your car to be on the road, you must have in date road tax. It's quite simple really.

    Your tax disc needs to be current for your car to be on the road at all, but for the driving test specifically, yes, they will check tax, insurance, and NCT (if applicable) and will refuse the test (and won't issue a refund of your fee) if any of them are expired, invalid, or missing.

    Yes,
    I have heard of testers not getting into cars without tax.
    Ironically if you fail they still allow to drive home, unaccompanied.

    Tax discs alway expire at the end of the month so in your case it expired on 31st December. She won’t sit her test without a current tax disc.
