Bit of a resurrection I know but not sure if I should start another thread.....

I have a 2014 F11 import and did a long trip today. I had changed the iDrive to KMs and all there is good but it annoyed me again that the Cruise Control is still showing MPH. I’ve searched around a bit and it seems to be a known issue but I haven’t found a definitive solution. Anybody else out there annoyed enough to have figured out how to change this? Or is there a coder that can do it? I’d even have a stab myself........

Afaik, it's hard coded, and can't be easily changed.

You'll probably have to change the instrument cluster.

If you Google you'll find some threads from the U.S., where they tried changing the cruise control display to km, and it couldn't be done.

Cheers - i did have a good google around alright. Found a lot of people with suggestions but no real solutions. Was half hopeful someone here may have figured something out as it is a particular Irl/GB thing or indeed USA/CA but that less so. It’s not majorly important but would be nice to sort out.

On the newer BMWs they're normally set up to do the cruise control in 5 mph or km/h increments depending on the cluster. So I'd say you won't be able to change it unfortunately.

You should be able to do it in 1 mph or km/h increments as well, though - for reference 100 km/h is 62 mph and 120 km/h is 75 mph, while 80 km/h is 50 mph.

Mine is set up for 1mph increments so it is not really an issue in functionality more an annoyance.

But I think somebody in another thread talked about how his jumped in 1.6km increments some way so it is obviously more than just doing a km conversion on the display. The unit would need to know to mph or km/h unit increments and where the upper and lower limits are to be set.

But you would think there would just be a SW switch somewhere that you could flip. All the other stuff switches easily over the iDrive by the user so why not this too?

OK did some more research in German. Some guys there imported some UK models or electronics from the US. Seems like it is not straightforward. Either needs a new unit or the existing one changed in some way that is more than a software setting! A guy near Munich would do it but you have to send him your part........

    I’ll live with it
