How much hot water in the tank?

This question came up over the holiday period. We have a small stove with a back-boiler and oil-fired central heating that combine to heat water in the hot-water cylinder. We have tried to get 2 baths out of this in the day; sometimes it works, other times not. Bath is old metal type, so some heat absorbed by it.
Cylinder is pre-insulated type, so we can't put hand inside the lagging jacket as we used to, to gauge how hot or now much hot water is in the tank.
Is there any widget I can get to give me a clue as to how much hot water is in the tank and the temperature of the water?

What size is the tank? The answer is usually with this.
