Cold weather triggers alarm

Can anyone help here : a neighbour has an alarm which regularly triggers in cold weather - below about -2C or so. She's had the alarm company out a few times - but they say they can't find anything wrong. Don't know the manufacturer, but it's a wired system with the usual door and window contacts.

Any ideas what this could be, or how to resolve it ?

    Thanks.

Could be a problem with the cable itself if nothing else seems faulty.

Usually something contracting in the cold causing either the contact to separate too far, or allowing the door/window to rattle in the wind.

Lived in a house once where the front door would contract in the summer when it dried out, and so randomly in the middle of the night the entry alert would start beeping and you'd have to leg it down the stairs before it went off. Can be really tricky to nail down because it's not there all the time, and any movement a fraction of a mm can resolve the issue or trip the alarm.

Possibly a faulty device or connection on that zone. Best way to find these issues is by using a multi meter to test the resistance on the entire loop.
