Changing car for a 7-Seater

Currently drive a 2015 Mazda 6 Saloon. 2.2 Diesel with approx. 95,000 km on the clock.

Car is mainly used by just me for work Mon - Fri with some family trips at weekends. I would do approx. 500km per week.

Due to an expanding family I'm looking at possibly changing to some sort of 7-seater. I'm wondering what my options are as follows:

    1. What 7-seater options are there available?
    2. Roughly how much should I expect to get for my current car?
    3. What 7-seater options are available for similar money to my current car?
    4. Do any dealers do a 'swap' rather than a sale with a trade in?

    Thanks in advance.

Are we meant to assume it's about 4 years old?

Dealers will always look to make money. 7 seater that are common, well priced and reliable are the c4 grand Picasso or 5008. Galaxy's are mental money

I'm not too keen on how either of those look tbh. Wondering are there any 7 seaters that are nice to look at also...?

Are you just looking for something that's nice to look at or something practical with 7 seats?

Mazda have the 5 which is a 6 seater rather than a 7 seater but with you already having a Mazda you might get a better deal on a 5 from a Mazda dealer. You won't get a straight swap though unless the other car is slightly older or undesirable. Garages are in the business of making money and even swapping for a car of similar value costs them money as they have to put a warranty and service the car you are buying from them. They also have to do the same with your existing car for it's next owner.

I preferred the look of the scenic. But didn't like the drive, rear view mirror module seemed to block a lot of forward view. By contrast, C4 grand Picasso has acres of glass, excellent visibility. Nice and bright inside. Also individually adjustable middle seats rather than the 2+1 bench the scenic has.

I'd suggest trying out lots of options, comfort and practicality might want to be weighed up versus exterior.

Also different colours and trim levels will alter perception a lot. I'd definitely suggest getting an old enough model to get the absolute top trim level you can. Makes up for any other items left off your wish list!

Looked at a few SUVs due to exterior looks, but you get less for your money, and the middle row is typically a bench 2 seats + hump seat. Rougher ride too in my opinion.

New Galaxy in high spec level is lovely, but it's a full size MPV so higher price, and higher specs are rarer and expensive. New shape is too new for smaller budgets.

I'm in a similar boat, will be changing this year for a 7 seater. Problem is the missus wants a luxury 4x4 7 seater so as far as I can tell I'm restricted to the XC90 or the BMW X5 - which one would be the best option?

The 5008 has been redesigned as crossover. Nice looking car. Beautiful interior.

Bought a Galaxy last May, got rid of my old focus for it.

As mentioned above, mad money but worth it.

    I can't really fault it.

very good on diesel, powerful and bucket loads of room.

    It's a 2013 and cost me €20k in 2017.

7 seaters are primarily designed with practicality in mind, with aesthetics generally a distant second. I just think you need to keep that in mind when ruling cars out from your list.
