Hi all, searching the fourm it looks like all posts are 5yrs old so looking for some fresh views,

Looking to buy a calving gate, 15ft ope to work with to close up front of existing shed. Gravel floor in she'd also. Would have small numbers 10 cows calving a year so something fit for purpose,

My question is, what type is better,

crush type head gate with seperate swinging gate off that, "bo steel" do them

crush and gate all in one with an internal section that closes in on the cow. Gibney do them,

If anyone has either or any other brand they find very good or very poor I'd appericate any info

    Tia

Make sure it opens on the "left", so vet can do C-section.

Bought a bo steel calving gate last year and can't fault it. Very well finished and came with the gate hangers, rope, chains needed to set up the gate.

That's good to hear I'm based in Galway so not to far from there workshop. Does it have to be set in concrete or does it all hang from the rsj

He'll ask you if you want hangers to either clamp to an RSJ or bolt to a wall when ordering

At those prices would it not be cheaper to make a copy of them if you were handy with a welder?
