Boiler needs replacement

Literally on the stroke of the New Year my gas boiler (which has been making odd noises) decided it had enough. It has been serviced recently and the guy did say to me it didn't sound great. It's 14 years old so that seems to be about end of life.

I've got a number of quotations to replace from 1800 to 2500. Do these sound reasonable?

The other thing is it takes 2 days? Surely you just take one out and connect the next one?

What was in the quotation you got?boiler only getting changed or a boiler with heating controls?

Boiler with heating controls. It's a Logic I understand. I have a vokera one at the moment that is simply on or off

My parents got theirs replaced last year. My dad reckons mine should be cheaper as I have half the radiators they have but he's not the most technical (as an engineer he designed a back door that opens inwards blocking the washing machine; my supposedly diy boyfriend managed to install my tv in greek so I'm a bit lost here!)

Boilers roughly about 2k alright, or more depending on model/efficiency. all pipes from current one may not necessarily suit position of new one and may need additional plumbing

It’s 2 days because the system needs to be powerflushed, piped adjusted and if upgrading the controls then it needs to be rewired too. 2500 sounds way too cheap if the controls and zones are being upgraded though.
1800 is roughly about right for boiler and powerflush. Maybe 2k including a magnetic filter.

Paid €1800 recently. Took 2 guys just over half a day. Straight swap, new hole in the wall for the pipe. No extra controls, just swapping a dial timer to digital.

SEAI Boiler Grant for oil and gas boilers is finishing on 15th of January if you are applying

....and in that timeframe, no powerflush either, I'd wager.

There is no grant for oil/gas boilers on their own. Heating controls must be fitted with the boiler for 750 grant. Heating controls only grant is changing to 700 as far as I know

its 600 for upgrading the controls.
You get an extra 100 for upgrading the boiler as well.
At the end of it your system has to be capable of controlling 2 separate zones.

    ....
The post above says something about this expiring on the 15th Jan. Im looking to know where it says that.

If you have your contractor picked I understand you can apply and you have 6 months after the grant offer to complete the work.

The €100 grant available for oil and gas boiler upgrades will no longer be available from the 15th January 2018. However, the grant for Heating Controls will be increased by the same amount to €700 from the same date.

New improved grant levels under Better Energy Homes from 15th January 2018
    Current New
    Heating Controls €600 €700
External Wall Insulation Detached €4,500 €6,000
    Semi-detached or end of terrace €3,400 €4,500
Mid terrace or apartment €2,250 €2,750...

That's a snip of the email I got from seai before Xmas.

Been quoted 2150 for a new ideal logic 24kw boiler installation in 1 day. I mentioned power flush but the plumber said he'd put a chemical in. Hes serviced the system before and is familiar with it. Should I insist or is it necessary. Thanks

Sent you pm. Mine 1800 for logic and powerflush. Took a long day...6am to 8pm but one day.

It is like a sauna here. Can't get over how quiet it is for old one. My housemate's boyfriend was hanging out window trying to get cold air.
