finishing heifers

    well lads have a few continental heifers in the shed avg weight 500kgs how much nuts per day to finish and for how long

    Wouldn't try and finish them myself at those weights. They'd be ideal cattle for letting out to grass in march/April or earlier if land drys up and finish off grass in the autumn or before they reach 30 months.
    If You do finish in the shed I'd give them 5-6kg per day until they fatten up.

    How long would you feed them for if you did decide to start now. Have similar cattle here and wet land and not much silage so thinking about doing this.
    prob 500 to 520 kg so to get decent grade and kill around 290 to 300 kg dead weight might be better than selling them in mart now?

    Heifers would be well on in 3 months on 5-6 kgs I'd say. You might find You're as well sell in the mart now. If they are good types I'm sure they'd make over €1200. If you Feed them for 3 months and get €4.50 a kg at most (if things go very well) at 300kg that's €1350.
    I don't finish many heifers now so others will know better
