    Wrong forum for this question
I asked a mod to move it to main forum for you.

Without being blunt, it'd want to have a very good warranty and be extremely low mileage to consider.

Clutch/Flywheel/DPF issues are common, as is sudden oil pump failure resulting in need for a new engine.

They are a nice comfy cruiser, but the country is awash with ex-fleet and lease models as well as UK imports.

Have you considered perhaps a Toyota/Skoda alternative?

I drove a rental car in the uk a couple of years back. Personally I found the driving position poor no matter what I adjusted. Big hunk of metal alright but not my cup of tea.

Mazda 6, Toyota Avensis, Ford Mondeo.

    Skoda Superb, VW Passat.

All better options in my opinion, last two that bit bigger.

    Won't bother to be honest.

Had an 09 160bhp diesel half leather etc (fairly sure SRi) for a year around 2011/12.

Worst car I've owned couldn't wait to get rid.
    Awful handling.
    Dead.
    Controls e.g. DAB very clunky.
Rear left window fell down into door one day.
I put 50k miles on it in the year. No mechanical issues bar window. Good on a motorway, space only OK compared to Passat etc

In fairness reliability of them improved dramatically when they got a facelift in 2013. Get a new as possible model as the later ones were better equipped, personally I prefer the Elite spec to the SRi which looks a bit tacky to me. 2014 also brought the more refined and frugal diesel engines as the older ones were a bit rough.

They are quite cramped though and headroom is tight especially for rear passengers in the hatchback version due to the slopping roof line. Don't expect great resale values though as there are lots of dirt cheap UK ones for sale here and an all new model was launched last year.

I also got professional opinion today from a very good friend and he’s a mechanic and gave me the same advise that no imported cars especially the SRI and will only consider Irish car 132 and above.

If I was buying one I'd import it.

Vauxhall and Ford always way cheaper in UK as there are so many of them.

Can't see why the advice not to.

I imported a 2013 160 SRI Automatic 14 mths ago, 12,000 kms and hasn't needed as much as a bulb.

Insurance will be high and also will not have A direct warranty if something happened.

There are numerous better choices for your money in this segment. Opel have lost their way massively in the last number of years.

How is insurance higher on a Vauxhall compared to an Opel? And the cheaper cost of importing v paying for a dealer warranty here may go a long way to mitigating against the cost repairs.
