    Hi all,

What is the best way of getting a purebred Lab puppy?

I'm just keen to attain a healthy, happy pup, and I don't mind if I've to wait quite a few months.

    Thanks,
    Con

Lots of happy healthy purebreds in rescue shelters. Maybe contact them and let them know what your looking for.
Try, if you can, to avoid puppy farms. Many come from appalling conditions with lil or no socialising.

Contact the breed club and they should be able to put you in touch with some breeders with litters planned. At that you need to do your homework regarding health checks (hips/elbows/eyes) and suss the breeder out - pure bred does not automatically equate to healthy and well socialised so the right breeder is a must.

breed club is a must , its not a guarantee but at least you are making sure that the puppy comes from a good background , I was lucky with my newest pup , and got him in November from a great breeder in Galway , great well socialized pup which we have continued , we have him 5 weeks and he is sleeping on his own for most of the night and is all but house trained , I put most of that down to good breeding and best practices from the breeder , good luck with your search and be prepared for a few weeks of hard work and years of love and happiness .

a very wise old lady who used to live near me advised me and ive never forgotten her wise words

I good breeder should have more questions for you than you for them

something I have overcooked a bit in my time to the extent that people have asked do I want to sell the pups or not

good luck with your search nothing like a new puppy in the house
