Reducing Neighbour Noise - SemiD

    Hi all,

I’m looking to reduce the noise coming from my neighbors home in a semi detached. I’m getting both airborne and impact noise. I know that impact noise can’t be removed completely but want to at least reduce it, currently we can hear both clicks of a door or press closing multiple times a night which is a bit of a nuisance.

Has anyone any experience with soundproofing or know anyone that can provide this service?

    Thanks in advance.

I never directly implemented noise insulation but I do remember doing some things that had the secondary effect of reducing external noise:

In one bedroom I put a floor to ceiling fitted wardrobe along the length of the party wall and it definitely reduced the noise from the neighbours

In another room, I replaced the 12.5mm plasterboard with 62.5mm insulated plasterboard on the external wall to improve heat insulation but it also significantly reduced noise from outside, mainly children playing on the adjacent green.

Just knock on their door and tell them to quiet down :)

See my post at the bottom of this thread

I ended up PM'ing the OP a load more detail as I've done it with fairly good success in our master bedroom...there's also a few companies out there that specialise in it but be prepared to pay a lot of money
