Instagram scam

Looking for a little advice here guys.

My 21 year old son, who knows absolutely EVERYTHING btw, recently ordered some clothes on a sponsored page on instagram.

Needless to say nothing has arrived and when I questioned him he explained that he never got a confirmation e-mail. Needless to say this screams scam straight away.

He paid approx €150 which is a lot of money for him. Today I asked and he has done nothing about reporting it - this drives me mad !!!!!!

He said the only contact for instagram that he can find is for developers.

    Any advice?
    Any comeback?
Is it worth contacting the bank?

    Thanks in advance.

Contact your bank and ask about a "Chargeback"

Is there any time limit on this? He made this purchase almost a month ago!

A possibility could be that they are shipped from China in which case delivery would take more than a month

True but I think the lack of any confirmation e-mail is a dead giveaway.

He doesn't even have any contact details for this site. This is a "how not to" do online shopping.

Just an update on my sons incident. As suggested here he contacted the
claim back dept of the bank. They are currently investigating. As it turns out one of the parcels arrived. The other is still outstanding.

Will keep you guys updated on the result.

I am happy for you, but as a lesson learned for me use PayPal in future.

You are covered with card payments online, it doesn't have to be just Paypal.

Just while we're discussing scams - my OH got an email at about 3am this morning from revenue saying she was due 245 back in overpaid tax.

I said it sounds dodgy as a couple of years ago I received something similar from HM Revenue despite never having worked in the U.K.

Upon checking the mail from Irish revenue it said she was due £245 GBP. It also asked her to click on a link, which we didn't, and fill out a form no doubt with bank details.

We clicked reply and the return email address was revenue with about 10 numbers in it.

    BEWARE!
