Must say i do miss tubes here in cork, used to love getting my casual gear in there like decent quiksilver/rip curl hoodie jackets etc, they had a huge range of decent surf t-shirts also, dont know of anywhere in cork city besides prime time to pick up a few t-shirts these days...

Any of the guys here in their 30’s still where surf attire or are we past it?!

I'm a guy in my 40s and I wear t-shirts pretty much all the time: Ripcurl, RVCA, WESC, Quiksilver, Billabong ... they are well made and good fitting t-shirts, and they wash and last well.

As you get older and want to wear tees it helps to stay in good shape, so hit the gym if you don't already! :)

Saying that I don't wear hoodies. I never did to be honest. I'd prefer a sweatshirt.

BTW you can get all those tees either online (Surfdome.ie is good) or in Dublin in Tribe, St Stephen's Green shopping centre.

Thanks "eviltimeban". That's great, to be fair I do still see a lot of older guys wearing surf gear so bit of a silly question really! Yeah I still have a few of my surf branded t-shirts after years of use, they do indeed last well...just a shame you cant walk in to many places that have a large selection here in cork anymore to pick up quality gear because sizing with some gear can be hit and miss...

"Tubes Boardsports" in cork was great for their selection, disappointing they closed down a few years back...could actually be an opportunity there for a replacement surf shop!

Just checked out surfdome, fantastic and great prices also...thanks man! Never heard of RVCA or WeSC, they have some nice gear!

In terms of hoodies im in my mid 30's now so id only ever wear zip up hoodies like this rip curl for example, really nice!

You will be seen by some people as desperately trying to hold on to lost youth

Screw them, though. Had everything from being told I have a "childs wallet" (random Carhartt one bought in Tribe) to "19 year olds shoes" (DCs). Modern fashion is the absolute worst it has been in years - hideous beards and/or showing everyone your ankles, shirts with cartoons of food on them, etc etc. 2010s fashion will be looked back on as even worse than what we see 70s as.

I know you're not saying that yourself, but just because you are 40 doesn't mean you have to start dressing like Jeremy Clarkson.

You can do it smartly by wearing a good fitting t shirt with a subtle logo with a nice pair of straight leg jeans and decent trainers or Vans. Stick on a good quality parka or bomber jacket and you're away. Yes, obviously avoid wallets with chains, oversized baseball caps, or silly looking beanies!

I do this but I also wear suits for work, and I make sure my suits are well tailored, good quality, and worn with polished brogues / oxfords and elegant shirts and ties.

So you can have the best of both worlds.

Agree with the current trend for showing off the ankles. That's more teenage boys though. The beard trend has died down a bit.
