    Hi everyone

I have two new cavachon puppies and was hoping someone could help me

    1. I have them in the utility room at the moment while trying to train them to use puppy pads / cardboard for the toilet. Am i better off training them to go inside or outside ? When i am back to work they will be inside during the day but in 6 months time i would like to have a doggy flap for them

    2. With regards to the doggy flap. How can i get this done ? Would i have to cut the hole in the door myself ?

    From my limited experience.
Train them to go outside or else you are training them twice, once to go on the pad and then to graduate to going outside.

Installing the doggy door is easy enough with the correct tools, a drill to make the first few holes and a jigsaw should do the trick.

ok so i think the poop should be easy enough to train them for as its "likely" they will go after eating , morning and evening

For urine, they obviously wont be able to hold it for long . I presume i will just have to have newspaper for this until they can hold it (when will that be :-))

You need to take them out every 30 mins or so - basically after they wake up, eat, play take them out. Give them loads of praise when they've finished going (if you praise while they're doing it they might stop and finish inside). I associated a word when my girl went - she's 4 now and I can say 'busy' to her and she goes lol. You should also be taking them out during the night. I had my two in a crate upstairs with me when they were puppies so would just listen out for them crying and take them out. If you have the puppies downstairs you'll have to time getting up every few hours to take them out. It's a chore but if you put a few weeks in they should be trained in no time.
