Burner will not bleed! HELP!

Ran out of oil, got a few hundred litres delivered. Tried to bleed it at least 30 times but no air or oil at all coming out.

The filter just at the tank is fine, oil coming past that but just not getting to the burner. I also checked the screen on the side of the burner and that's clear. No gunk whatsoever.

How can I get it going again? I can not afford to call anyone out. Had to borrow money for the oil. Small child is sick so need it running asap.

Should be a filter near the burner, that could be blocked / airlocked

Check valves aren't seized, is there a valve PR filter at boiler?

Has the boiler been cleaned? As in the eye or cell.

    Check all of these.

You will have to disconnect hose from very close to boiler to get it bled but go slowly at opening but.

Make sure all power is off.

Boiler wasn't cleaned not this season anyway. It was running fine until I ran out 2 days ago. The fexi hose? I should loosen that? I thought the boiler would have to be on while bleeding it to draw the oil in?

I have no idea what a valve PR filter is

If you have a car tyre pump (or similar), try blowing back from the boiler to the tank until you hear the air blowing into the tank, then wait to see if after a few minutes oil appears from where you were blowing.
I know the process seems counterintuitive, but I have often had success doing it that way.

Please follow site and charter rules. "Resistance is futile"

Open flexi hose, just loosen it a tad, it should start to flow from tank to that point. Try catch the flow into a jar or similar, once you have a steady flow close it. With a few attempts it should fire up. Will bleed its self if it gets going. You will probably need to do some restarts if it cuts out.

It's not dirty, it just ran out of fuel.

If it ran out of course it will be dirty.

You may get away with the bleeding but the eye could well be filthy from the bottom of the tank gunk getting through.

If you take the flexy hose of it will flow so don't remove, open slowly as mentioned above use a basin etc to catch flow while bleeding then re tighten.

Do not attempt this while burner is on or try running it with burner out.

I would suggest wear gloves also as kerosene will get all over you.

Running out doesn't cause dirt to necessarily flush through, he said filter on pump was clean.
    Filter on tank passing too.
Neither will affect "eye" presuming you mean photocell?

As it's a "desperate" diy fix, I recommend work back from burner loosening each fitting one by one till you find source of blockages, re tightening as you go.
Blowing back is a good tip firstly.
Be prepared or have somebody standing at tank to shut oil off quickly if necessary.

I would check fire valve fault, loose brass wheel turn's anty clockwise to open, it should be open. (Sometimes treads break from wheel, shutting off oil, twist it anty clockwise)

Better type firevalves with a long wire off them have a reset button.

Depending on the height of the tank and distance from the boiler, sometimes "a few hundred litres" is not enough to get the flow going again. There are ways a competent service engineer could get it going.
