VDSL provider migration process

I currently have VDSL and POTS phone with Vodafone.

I put through an order to transfer phone and broadband to Eir about 10 days ago (€33 for unlimited broadband and calls for 6 month)

I think the phone has gone over today as 19800 isn’t reporting back my provider as Vodafone anymore it’s just failing to connect so I guess the migration process is still going.

My broadband is still working with Vodafone which authenticates using PPPoE. IPoE doesn’t work as I only get a 10.x.x.x/27 address assigned to my unbranded F1000.

Eir require IPoE right ? What details should I use if my broadband is transferred ?

How is broadband usually transferred ? Will my port at the cab just be reconfigured for eir or will a new port be assigned to me which will require a technician visit ?

I got an installation date for the 4th of January and I’m not sure why one is required.

I don’t want to cancel Vodafone yet as I don’t want no broadband over the Xmas visit!

Anyone have experience with this process ?

I actually done this kind of migration over 3 years ago and had massive problems for 3 months.

    That was eircom -> Vodafone

I’m now going Vodafone -> eir

I’m hoping the process is much smoother now.

No TV Right? IPoE is the default but PPPoE works too when not using TV.

Is it pots to pots? Its possible you have already ported for BB but the MPLS network can still allow you hit vodafones RAS I think (certainly can for ADSL). Try a call to eircom@eircom.net broadband 1 just to see.

Weird, changed the pppoe details to eircom@eircom.net and it authenticated successfully to Vodafone (Vodafone IP and DNS)

That works because Eir/Vod use CLI so the uname/pw dont really matter (your port string identifies you).

Leave it like so and when it changes it should automatically come back up after a few minutes downtime.

Was wondering actually do eir provide VoIP bases telephone service by default with packages or is POTS still the standard ?

The package I ordered doesn’t say

eir Fibre Unlimited up to 100Mb
eir Broadband Talk Unlimited National, Mobile & UK
