Tyres - dealership or tyre centre?

    Hi all,

I have a new car that's picked up a puncture (screw in tire) and was looking for advice on if I should go to the dealership for a replacement or would a tire centre be ok? The car is obviously in warranty and I don't want to void it, would the warranty consider a tire replacement by a third party in breach of the agreement?

Tyres are not covered under warranty.
Go to a tyre centre for a repair

It's 100% fine to source tyres outside the dealer network.

Do you definitely need a new tyre? Most dealers will do a puncture repair for free where as most independents will charge.

How well does a puncture repair work? I already filled the tire with the repair kit from the car but it's still letting air out quite quickly.

If you sprayed the gunk into it it's finished and you will need a new tyre

Perhaps as part of a larger service but just popping into a dealer for a puncture will incur a cost.

Tires with gunk can be reused but it needs to be washed out. Usually 10 quid on top of the puncture cost.

I suppose there's no hard and fast rule but any dealership I've ever worked in didn't charge for a puncture.

You'd put a jobcard on it to record the visit but it's a nice gesture to do them FOC. Same with halogen bulbs.

What goes around comes around with little jobs like that. An apprentice will have a puncture in and out in 15 mins.
