Ideal system 18 gas boiler - Low Pressure

    Hi Guys -
Complete DIY dunce here... That said i have a problem with low pressure in my gas boiler.

Boiler is 4 years old and was working fine, to be honest i still feel apart from low pressure is fine. The issue i have is that I had a Rad that was not working in the hallway, paid a fella to come in and replace. He did so and when turned on still no heat.

When looking in the attic where we have two tanks, one smaller which i think feeds the tank in the hotpress, there is a pipe that drops directly to the tank with a lever to cut off the supply if needed ( it remains open all the time though)

Plumber guy replaced the Lever (failing to properly connect and i found it leaking on return home...) Noted no/low pressure, bled the rad and left, I turn on the heating still, no heat and as near as dam it no pressure on the guage on the boiler. now no heat in any rad...

I have no filling loop on the boiler. Nothing in the hotpress near main tank. In here are two red taps at floor level that when one opens i hear what sounds like air rushing through pipes when heating is on. They seems to control hot water flow to rads. Now i have very low heat on raads up stairs and new rad in halway downstairs is luke warm so water is moving.

Under kitchen sink there is a few pipes but one connected to nothing and another with nothing connected, neither have caps on them. I cannot follow them but they do go to the direction of where the boiler would be in the kitchen.

How in gods name can i increase the pressure as the rads are poor at heating up.

Please ask any questions and will answer best i can sorry for poor explanation.

There has to be a feed to the system. Ideally, there should be a valve near the boiler to allow you to repressurise while you can see the dial to bring it up to the correct pressure (do it slowly).

    What does the gauge say?

I'm surprised that a rad that's only 4 years old should need replacing....that may not have been the problem. It's possible that the system pressure is ok but it needs to be re-balanced (to ensure that all rads heat up equally quickly).

I'd be more inclined to get a competent plumber to sort out the problem....they're expensive, but worth every penny as they'll get your system working at its most efficient and save you money in the long run.

    Hi Mate
The rad is older 17yrs - The boiler itself is only 4 years old.

To be honest having looked as much as i can all over the boiler there is nothing to bring up the pressure. The gauge is reading well below 1bar. No issues in getting a guy in to be honest but will look to balance the rads first as think these are well off.

While I think of it, if the system pressure is too low, the boiler won't operate...

Check out balancing rads on youtube..

there is enough pressure that the boiler is operational, also watched a very good vid on youtube on balancing that made sense so doing that as soon as home
