    Hi all,

The sound of my Triton t90xr (8 years old) changes last week, from the normal hum, to a more high pitched whine.

Water pressure and temperature unaffected, but just doesn't sound right.

Iv'e opened up the cover, and I have attached a photograph of the inside. As you can see, there is some black residue on the inside of the cover, which seems to be coming the part which spins around (just under the copper wire bundle in the photograph.) when the shower is turned on.

Ive also attached a schematic of the T90xr internal parts. Based on this, the part which is giving trouble seems to be located between the motor assembly and the pump assembly. Does anyone know what this particular part is?

The motor and pump are sold as one unit. You can't buy parts for it so you need to replace the motor or pump. It's known as both. The bearings are failing. That's what is making the noise.

If the shower is close to 10 years I'd be looking at replacing the shower rather than the motor.
