"The item has left the originating country"

I bought an item on a French website on the 27th November. I was given a tracking number for it but on the tracking site it says "The item has left the originating country" (https://ibb.co/e2TNnw-I have the tracking number obscured)
It has been like that since the 4th December. An Post are in possession of it by what it says on that link but I have no way of tracking it here as the tracking number only works on that site. It is a Christmas present so I need it asap.
Apologies to the mods as this kind of question has been posted before loads of time I am sure but I hope someone might be able to suggest something?
No point in me contacting An Post I suppose?

Usually if it's going by post and is handed over to An Post, you can use the original tracking number on An Post's website and it will tell you what new tracking number An Post have allocated to it and track it from there. At least that's worked for me for stuff from Germany via DHL in the past.

It should be the same for the above tracking number, it does take about a week or a bit longer to get to Ireland, I assume the reason is that parcel comes by road not planes. It will not track on the Anpost website until anpost scans it.

They mustn't have scanned it so because the tracking number is not recognised when I put it in An Posts's tracking site.

They normally scan it the day before it gets deliver.

Thanks for the replies. I am still a bit worried though. I sent a message to An Post about it.

Finally arrived today after being ordered on the 27th November. I bought it from a French website but it was delivered from Holland. Seems an awfully long time to wait.

If it came from Holland I wonder if the seller was originally from China or HK, lots of the now offer shipping the item with what it looks as coming from NL.
