1.8 tdci Focus starting problem

    How's things, I have a 09 zetec S 1.8 tdci Focus.
I've changed the glow plugs back in February this year.
It's been taking very long to start in the mornings especially now with the cold.
It could take even up to a whole minute of turning over before it starts. When I tap the accelerator it usually starts then.
When it starts it puffs out a lot of white smoke.
Any idea what it could be where should I start looking?
    Maybe glow plugs again?

There are two types on leaks in common rail injectors. The internal leak which allows fuel to leak past the injector to the return line which typically causes symptoms you are explaining as it takes ages for the common rail pressure to raise high enough for the management to allow the start.

The other type of leak can happen between the injector and the cyclinder head where soot shoots past the seal from the combustion chamber.

You said that one seal was needed which makes me think that it's the leak type 2 that was fixed in the past. For testing the first type of leak the injectors need to be removed from the cylinder head and driven in a testing chamber typically at a good diesel specialist.

You need to get the fuel rail pressure checked via a scanning tool. If it does not jump to 250bars+ within 1-2 seconds of cranking, its a fuel fault.

Check the wire going to the heater plugs. There's a connection near the fuel filter that can give trouble.

So I got the injectors checked yesterday and they're working fine. Even level of fuel in all 4 tester bottles.
Mechanic said to have it plugged in first thing in the morning when the problem occurs to check the pressure in the common rail.
So now I'll have to find somebody to check it for me at the house one morning which I can't imagine will be easy.

When you turn the key it tries to start but doesn't? After several turns it eventually starts?

The air intake valve on start up might be getting stuck closed therefore won't start untill it frees up,may be the issue .. may.

Was that on my 2.0 tdci a while back, can be replaced cheap enough,or cleaned ,and it's impossible to diagnose by any machine

You say you changed the glow plugs but have you checked to see that there is power going to them as there is more to the system than just the glow plugs, there will be relays and fuses

No glow plugs are definatley bang on.
I'll just wait till I get the fuel rail pressure checked before I start replacing other parts.
As for now I got a leak from one of the leak off pipes going into the injector. Took it out and oring looks a little ****ty so for now I tightened it with a cable tie until I get new orings. Have them ordered anyway

So think I found the issue.
Glow plugs are fine but not getting power.
The 60amp fuse keeps blowing everytime I change it and turn the key.
I was told the wire going from the fuse box to the glow plugs likes to melt so next step is sorting that.
Does anybody know if they can be got in Ford or could it be repaired.

All Ford parts are available from Ford.

I'd just get a second hand part from a scrapper
