Are judges obliged to strike out applications upon applicants request?

    Hey,

I'm just wondering about the above.

If an application is made to the courts (family, civil etc) and on the date of the original or subsequent hearings if the applicant requests to withdraw their application, are judges obliged to strike them out or can they proceed if they wish at their discretion?

Genuinely curious as I'm not sure

My experience is that Judges are usually happy to see another case done with.

I do remember one case where the Judge left the case in the list to ask one party to explain what they were at.

    Then there are "Judge's Motions"

Isn't that usually to the next call over to give the other party a chance to arrive if they are late?

    Care to clarify further?
