Do dickie bows need a special type of white shirt or do they fit the normal white shirt perfectly?

Have a navy suit but does it look weird to wear a dickie bow with this colour? And if its alright what colour dickie bow goes well with navy? Thinking about wine?

Edit: after doing another bit of investigation- whats the difference between a black tie suit and a normal suit? Basically what i need to dress for is a Christmas party in a hotel and wondering will my navy suit do?

If the invitation doesn't specify black tie then a normal suit & tie would be fine.

Black tie is traditionally a tuxedo, which is usually black, often with different buttons to a suit, and often with a satin stripe on the trouser leg, and satin lapels.

Bow ties are usually worn with a winged collar. However in recent years we've seen these rules relaxed a bit, and "black tie" can often be worn as a black suit, white shirt, and black bow tie / regular tie. However you're in danger of looking like you're going to a funeral if you go with the regular tie.

If the invite says "black tie" then you don't really want to show up in your navy shirt. Think James Bond in a casino and you're away.
