Recommended games on new PC

Hello

Away from gaming since ps3 days - young kids and a busy job and all that. Am almost ready with my first pc build, just the gpu and monitor still to arrive in the post.

It's a ryzen 5 1600, GTX 1060 6gb, 144hz 1080p 24" monitor (acer xf240h) so should be good for 1080p on high settings anyways.

Thought about a ps4 and cheaper budget on a pc (use it just for work) but decided to put the ps4 cash into Gpu and better components.

So now I want to get a few games to hopefully prove myself right! Any recommendations for some showcase games that will show off the Pc?
I think gta v is a given as I loved the series on ps3. Also liked COD and those types of games bit been so long I'm out of touch. And love fifa but not sure if translates well to the Pc? Any recommendations much appreciated!

Finally want to use a controller. Think it's possible to use a ps3 controller with some software? I have one working so would still need to buy another pad, any recommendations?? Don't want to spent a fortune mind, budget option :-)

Thanks!

welcome to the brotherhood
there are many sites that will help you get cheap games
there is the bargains alert thread here in PC Gaming
isthereanydeal.com which sows you the cheapest price on the legit sites
allkeyshop which deals in grey market steam keys and is ok for the most part
The Steam xmas sale will be coming up at the end of the month
check out humble bundle which releases bundles of good games for cheap and a monthly subscription which reveals an AAA game and then you get other games when the bundle is released

the best controller to get is the xbox 360 or xbox One which works natively out of the box

FIFA on 3 monitors is best FIFA :D GTA V is a great game, many hours of play between the single player and the multiplayer.

If you want a really good game and a total change of pace from what you're used to, X-Com is fantastic and the first one with its DLC is a bargain.

I second Witcher 3, fantastic game, looks amazing and probably one of the best gamed I have ever played.

I'm loving Dishonored 2 currently, its cheap on cdkeys.com at the moment ( 9.50euro with the Facebook 5% off code. )

Also don't buy anything until December 22nd when the steam sales start( and other stores ).
Generally steam is the most expensive, cheaper to get games from:
https://www.humblebundle.com/store
Also might want to check this months humble monthly, 3 good games with more to come for around 10euro https://www.humblebundle.com/monthly

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

Cheers. Picked up an as new Xbox 360 controller with the official windows receiver for 20eur, adverts.ie, pleased with that. Once I have the pc built will see if I can use a ps3 also using the same adapter, if not will just get a 2nd 360 controller.

Doom and the new Wolfenstein games offer tremendous single player campaigns, something that's become rare in modern gaming.

Cities Skylines is a modern citybuilder that I got way more hours out of than I thought I would and is very much a PC game so should feel very new to a console player.

EA Origin Access is a subscription service that lets you play all of EA's AAA franchises (including FIFA, Battlefield, Titanfall, Star Wars etc) for free a few months after their release. It's dirt cheap, €24 a year I think and leaves me feeling much less dirty than regularly blowing wads of cash on their products considering their questionable businesses practices. There's also a good selection of indies they've hoovered up on their too.

Agree with those above on Witcher 3 and GTA 5.

I use Allkeyshop regularly and have never had an issue. The prices for games from the past 6 months are usually better now than they will be on next year's Steam sale never mind this year's one.

Also if you haven't played them somehow Half Life 2 and the Portal games are must haves in any self-respecting Steam collection.

http://www.GOG.com
Great for old classics, and no DRM to boot (it's also the best place to buy The Witcher series from).
And their sale is now!

FPS:
DOOM (2016)
Shadow Warrior (2013)
Wolfenstein The New Order

Indie:
Cuphead
Doki Doki Literature Club
Shovel Knight
Undertale

If you want to try something different id try Arma 3. Its no console shooter so can take awhile to get used to but once you do its great and has a huge mod library thats pretty easily accessible and a large active community.

Also it will showcase the PC very well, some of the best textures ive seen in any game, also the attention to detail is quite extraordinary.

It's throw Dying Light into the mix too. Such a great time sink.

Superbly optimised for PC too.

Get the new style Xbox controller the next time and add Bluetooth to your pc then you won't need an Xbox dongle. Think PS4 controller will work over Bluetooth as well I think.

Pick up a used g27 or similar, opens a host of driving games to you, project cars2, dirt rally etc.
