I picked one up in Lidl a couple of years ago for about €99 and use it almost daily....I've gotten great use from it..well worth the money and when it gives up the ghost I'll just buy another...

Thread moved to the car detailing forum. I changed the title to attract attention too.

For that money, the general consensus is that Nilfisk are better than Karcher. At that level, Nilfisk use aluminium pumps while Karcher use plastic. I've used neither, just repeating what I've read online.

Another +1 for Nilfisk. Have one about 6 or 7 years and it hasn't given me any bother. Will replace it with another Nilfisk when the time comes.

    Nilfisk again!

What ronnie says about the pumps being aluminium vs plastic

    Same for me as Bazz.

I'll go for Nilfisk next time also. I had to change a hose because I ripped the last one and got a replacement easily enough in a few days.

    Good product.

I use a nilfisk at home, that's my money!
We have a huge, tank fed diesel Karcher in work and it's honestly not as powerful ir reliable.

Paying for a name and colour, get the nilfisk.

Another Nilfisk recommendation here, have mine 7 years trouble free.

I have just purchased the Nilfisk C130 myself.
Can someone recommend a detergent for it?
As well as my car i want to use on safe areas of motorbikes too.

Invest in a proper snowfoam lance and some BH Autofoam - http://www.detailingshed.com/shampoo-snowfoam/279-bilt-hamber-auto-foam.html.

Is the one that comes with the nilfisk cack?

As Ronnie said, Bilthamber is the mutts nutts!

However, you will need a snowfoam lance

    See here: http://www.detailingshed.com/shampoo-snowfoam/186-snow-foam-lance.html

It'll output some bubble sudsy type foam, but its not really ideal.

Just to note, the Bilt Hamber Auto Foam, doesnt produce a thick foam, and thats not the measure of a good snowfoam; its the cleaning ability, and this is one of the very best, if not, the best.

Ha, I bought similar earlier this year. Should have bought it years ago.

I've use the Bilt Hamber foam and it's excellent stuff. Yes it's not that thick, but as it's a bit watery, it works its way into the door jams, etc and breaks down the dirt in there also. Just a word to the wise, while it's one of the very best foams out there, you still need to wash afterwords with the 2BM. The foam won't work miracles on a car that's caked in half an inch of dirt, it will loosen quite a lot of it (or nearly all if you've a coating on). Some people expect it to work like the ultra aggressive traffic film remover that you can get in some of the petrol station car washes, it doesn't (and it's a lot kinder to the car).

I've just got the Chemical Guys Honeydew Snowfoam to try. I've yet to try it but I've a small bit of the Bilt Hamber Autofoam left, "just in case". I've tried others but keep going back to the BH.

There's not many to surpass BH Auto Foam when all things are considered; value for money, performance, cleaning ability, protection safe, etc.
Yes, it's not the thickest but that's not a measure of a snow foam performance and in fact a foam that's too thick suspends the cleaning agents keeping them away from the surface it needs to clean

Are Karcher really not that good? I have a One4All voucher and I'm thinking about the K2 and a foam gun for about €115 in Halfords, if it only lasted say 2 years I'd be happy with that? I've no issues using a regular hose for the washing but I'd like to snow foam the car properly.

It's hard to beat a Nilfisk in that price range imo. I have mine 6 or 7 years without any issues. The father had a Karcher (no idea what model it was) years ago and it didn't last long. Karcher had a great reputation but I think in the lower price ranges their products are not great.

To be honest I'd rather buy a Nilfisk for €115 and get 7 or 8 years out of it than buy the likes of a Karcher for the same money and only get 2 years out of it. There is no reason to waste €115 on something with the expectancy of it doing you for 2 years when you can buy a similar product that will last you longer.

I had a look on Argos and they're all out of stock, no luck on Woodies, B&Q etc. I see Amazon have free shipping on them and the C110 7-5 would be €98. I wonder is the foam gun any good though?

It's so, so. Budget for a real gun from detailing shed of you're serious about a good, clean car.

I bought this snow foam lance for my Nilfisk back in August and it's great:

Kranzle are the best out there electric wise. I know they are a lot more expensive but they will last for years. I have one that is around 25 years but it was around 700 euro (converted over). This back from amazon.de for around 470 https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00ZI44Q4E/?smid=A2HABEOSMRP1BJ&tag=semmark02-21&linkCode=asn&creative=6742&camp=1638&creativeASIN=B00ZI44Q4E&ascsubtag=6800995988..9652..desktop..sk2hfhjbmtum956um2vqf69qv1..charlie..notestname..notestgroup
