    Hi all

Just looking for some info on travel allowance/substinence

I travel a lot throughout Ireland with work(approx 3 days a week) but my primary place of work is listed as the office

Some hotel stays which are paid back to me along with dinner etc with receipts

Company car with fuel card etc so mileage isn't an issue

However there's no allowance for lunch/coffee etc during the day

Most of these days are between 5-10 hours out on the road

I see a lot of info on the revenues website about substinence allowances and what the civil service rates are( detention rates/overnight allowance etc)

I was just wondering is there anything set in stone or have my employers any legal obligation to fork this out?

Failing that can any of this be recovered through the revenue?

    Thanks in advance

No obligation and no ability to recover from revenue.

What these are are the maximum amounts that can be paid without having to charge tax.

It may be worth taking a pay cut as part kfna deal where your employer pays max expenses. The cost to your employer can stay the same while your take home pay increases.

Bear in mind that hotels and dinners would be part of the subsistence allowance.

This is the very definition of wage substitution, which Revenue will get quite sticky about if they spot it.
