Freeview and freeview hd

    Buying a new tv.looking at specs of different tv,s. some have freeview and freeview hd others don't mention it in there specs.this is in Northern Ireland where i,m looking at this info.am i correct in saying these freeview and freeview hd terms only apply to uk?i live in cavan and only have a t.v aerial.would freeview and freeview hd be relevant to me for receiving stations?i have being told by the retailer these t.vs are saorview approved. thanks for any information

    Best to go with the freeview HD, that should be able to handle Saorview, where as the standard freeview would not be guaranteed.

    I know winston_1 annoys a lot of people on this site with his persistent pedantry. While it isn’t welcome, there are somethings it is better to let go, and the above comment is one of them. Comments like the one by ruwithne above are as unwelcome l, perhaps even more so.

    I’m not taking any actions on either of the above posts. I’m planning on letting this one go and I hope everyone else will too. If further posts appear on this topic, it will be more than winston_1 who will be getting the ban

    Freeview HD capable as mentioned is more than good enough for Saorview. But as you live in Cavan Receiving Freeview/Freeview HD may also be possible especially if you have ever received any UK channels from your Aerial in the past.

    What is that supposed to mean? You asked about Freeview and Freeview HD asking if those terms applied to the UK and then said you were in NI which is the UK.
