I filed tax returns one year late through not watching things closely enough.Small business and always struggling to keep on top of tax liability .My returns were filed almost exactly one year late .Now issued with a summons to the District court .Is there a way of dealing with this through Revenue or will I face the wrath of the court .How much could I be fined and is it a conviction .Thanks

I'd start by talking to your accountant ASAP. If you don't have one, get one.

Depending on whether it's Revenue or CRO, the following might also help:

    And your solicitor.

Case may be dropped if the return is submitted but speak to your accountant asap.

The return was filed pretty much one year late .Spoke to my accountant today .He said to get a solicitor and be prepared for a substantial fine .Most of this guys business is with farmers ,contractors ect and not much with retail.I knows it does not look good to file so late but its always been a struggle since the recession and we just got on with it .I still paid tax every year .Just late every year. Thanks for reply's .
