Hoping for some opinions on this ...

My 15 year old goddaughter is very into her makeup and over the past few months I've been hearing her mention various palettes etc so have decided to get her a really good one for Christmas.

    So the shortlist is
    Huda Beauty Rose Gold
    Urban Decay Heavy Metals
    Anastasia BH Modern Renaissance

Considering I'm in my 40's and she's only 15, I'm not sure which to get or if anyone has any other suggestions that would be great!!

I'm in my 30s and have the Huda Beauty Rose Gold palette and the ABH Modern Renaissance. The Huda one has a lot of sparkly/foil shadows which I don't get a huge amount of use out of but a teenager might like them. The ABH is more wearable for me but might be boring if your goddaughter wants a wider variety of looks/colours. Both palettes are really good quality, shadows are highly pigmented and very finely milled. I personally prefer the ABH as I find the colours are more blendable.

I'm not familiar with the UD Heavy Metals palette but it seems to have a balance between neutral and bold colours, albeit they're all metallic.

Do you know what kind of looks she likes to do or any bloggers/vloggers she follows to get an idea of what looks she's trying to emulate? Would she use a lot of metallics or would mattes be a better bet?

I think if I was buying one for someone that age, I might go for the Huda Rose Gold as there's a good mix there so it should cover a lot of looks.

Can you be my godmother too??

I have a good few UD palettes but only ever use the Naked ones and don't really find the others great... not sure if they're made differently.

I'd definitely go with Modern Renaissance.

The Huda Rose Gold has been discontinued because she released another one called Desert Dusk, I'm not sure if Rose Gold is still available to buy.

Personally, I'd go for Modern Renaissance because she can get loads of looks out of one palette. The Heavy Metals is all shimmer shades so she'd need to already own matte eyeshadows to make it work - it's more of an add-on pallette I think.

Rose Gold is still available but won't be reproduced. Still in stock on cult beauty and Brown Thomas.

I have Rose gold and modern renaissance and I personally get more wear out of the modern renaissance but do like my rose gold for a night out. I think the quality of modern renaissance is better than Huda but the huda one is still good, just that bit harder to blend.

I'd probably go for the rose gold one because it has a nice mixture of matte and glitter foils and the colours all work well together. You could also consider the Violet Voss Holy Grail palette, which has quite similar colours but more of them.

Thanks so much for all your advice; I bought the Huda Beauty in Brown Thomas today as I've just found out from her older brother that she has been dropping all kinds of hints at home for that palette.
But guess what I did after all your recommendations for the Anastasia BH Modern Renaissance? Yep I just went and ordered that for myself - a little pre-Christmas treat for me from me!!
