Anybody any idea how much 131 VW Caddy worth with engine damage. 1.6 tdi 105 hp. Looks like broken rings, starts with lot of blowback. Any suggestions who could repair or source new engine.

Just go online and look up parts finder. This will give list of similar vans of different years with countrywide breakers. Also check the engine code. Usually on the white sticker right on top of plastic timing belt cover.. Also you will possibly only obtain a bare engine for somewhere around 1000k Euro. As an engine with fuel pump. Injectors. Turbo.starter motor alternator. Etc. Would cost double.. easily and most breakers sell all these seperately.. Just make sure engine is the problem first.they are usually bulletproof if using correct oils 5/30 synthetic every 15k. We have fleet at work and some with over 300k. No issues except. Egr valves and an odd injector. And they get driven v hard

Thanks for info. Serious blowback and tapping noise, sounds like piston ring broken. Drives fine & no error codes. Have a few of these vans, all over 200k and only this one gives trouble. Bought it s/hand so don’t know how it was treated previously but always suspected it had a hard life.
