    Hi, ive posted this in food ans nutriton but got not replies so trying here to see if anyone can help.

    Hi all, if this is in the wrong section please move. I want to cook some freezer to microwave meals for my mother but she has Dermatitis Herpetiformis, that means she has an extreme reaction to gluten and is on medication and must follow a gluten free diet. So I made up lots of gluten free meals such as cottage pie with mashed potato topping and put them in her freezer. Now she tells me that she cannot eat reheated potato or reheated rice that she has been told it will aggravate her condition. As neither contain gluten I don't understand why. I know you have to be careful with reheated rice due to Bacillus cereus but this illness is not specific to a gluten intolerance. I don't understand why cooked frozen and then reheated potato would be a problem. I'm not disagreeing with her but would like to know the science behind it.

    And also if this is true suggestions for freezer to microwave meals. All she eats is gluten free toast and actimels, her nutrition is very low. Thanks

    could she try the microwave baby potatoes? They are in little bags you pop the whole bag in the microwave and they cook in about 8 minutes. They cook from fresh so no need to worry about re-heating. If a full bag is too much you could divide them into smaller amounts and heat in a bowl or on a plate.

    Thanks for the answer. I have a load of meals already made which she seems to think she can't eat and I'm looking to see if there is a medical reason why she can't. She may well have been told this or she may not have and is confused.
    The bagged microwave potatoes are a good idea but I'm looking for easy complete meals.
