14 month old BMW with two previous owners

    Hi I am considering buying a BMW 320D from UK. Approved used car 14 months old approx 20k miles, decent price. Only thing is it has two previous owners both had car about 7 months and 10k miles. Everything else seems good and will have almost 2 years manufacturers warranty left which as I understand based on previous thread will be honoured in Ireland despite one year coming from BMW Uk.

    Should I let two previous owners over such a short timeframe put me off the car? Is it a sign of a potential problem despite the fact that it is only 14 months old and under warranty? Any advice appreciated. I have to make decision tomorrow. Thanks.

    Is there service history and did you confirm it by calling the garage?

    On a history check is there any periods where the car has been SORNED or not taxed?

    2 owners wouldn't put me off but if look at the service history and it's on road history for clues of anything negative

    Thanks for reply. I am talking to dealer again today so will go through history in more detail. As it's Bmw approved used I believe if service was indicated as required then would have been completed. The Dealer said full service history. Nothing else showing up in car history check. Changes of registered owners match sales date and only time I can see tax expired was mid November this year when sold on to BMW dealer. Only question I would have is regarding 2 owners in its first year. Don't think it's a deal breaker.

    Was probably a self hire, short term lease or BMW employee scheme car which is very common in the UK. Have you done a full history check on it? Might indicate if the former owners were individuals or companies.

    Ok thanks I did the full history check with motorcheck but couldn't get that level of detail re who owners were. Found a website cazana.com which has details of last time was sold back in April and it appears to be via a main dealer. They show a snapshot of the ad and the price date and mileage at which it was advertised. Good to know there are other logical reasons for short ownership than underlying issue with car.
