Lead flashing into 1969 single leaf cavity wall with pebble dash

Hi, In a typical late 1960's single leaf cavity block house (2 storey semi) with pebble dash, is it safe/reasonable to chase through the outer block face to install flashing for a single story roof extension? How deep do you cut? Do you just chase the pebble dash and render over the flashing? Thanks

Hi,

How deep do you cut?

Do you just chase the pebble dash and render over the flashing?
